ALVA, Okla. (10-14-11) – The final 20-minutes continues to be the Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s soccer team’s struggle as the Rangers fall to conference foe Rogers State, 2-0, on Friday.
The two squads battled through the first half at an even pace, with the Hillcats getting one more look at goal than Northwestern. Heading into intermission, neither team was able to get a leg up with the score remaining tied at zero.
However, the Hillcats controlled the ball throughout the final 45-minutes of play, taking 12 shots to the Rangers three. The tie was broken in the 70th minute by Rogers State’s Jordan Beasley with a goal from the top of the box.
Beasley converted on the other Hillcat goal with 15 minutes to go in the match.
Five separate Rangers recorded shots on goal in the contest, including Amanda Tosh, Vivian Vega, Denise Rangle, Taylor Marsh and Taylor Clark.
Picking up the loss in goal for Northwestern was Caitlin Thorpe (2-4). The freshman picked up eight saves.
The Rangers (4-9, 0-6) extended their current losing streak to seven matches. They look to pick up their first conference win on Wednesday as they host Saint Gregory’s at 3 p.m.
