After a few months off, members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rodeo team are gearing up for their spring season, starting with the Kansa State University rodeo Feb. 20-22 in Manhattan, Kan.
Head Coach Stockton Graves said his team couldn’t be more prepared.
“We have been practicing every day, getting horses back in shape, getting our heads back in the game,” Grave said. “There are six rodeos left, and for most events it’s still anyone’s game, but we have Rangers at the top of the list in almost every event. Our women’s team has been extremely tough all year. They won all four rodeos in the fall and have a great lead in the region, and I have no doubt that they will stay right there. Our men’s team is currently fourth, but we have a lot of names in the standings. I expect them to finish toward the top as well.”
Aside from daily practices, Ranger Rodeo also has been playing host to a number of jackpots to get the athletes back into the mindset of competing in the events.
Other college rodeos that team members will be competing in this semester will take place at Garden City Community College, Fort Scott Community College, Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Fort Hays University and Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
