Ranger Research Day to take place April 1; Abstracts due Monday

March 25, 2011

Students and faculty at Northwestern Oklahoma State University who have an interest in research should prepare for the Fifth Annual Ranger Research Day on Friday, April 1, at 8 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Deadline for submissions is Monday, March 28.

For each entry, a Ranger Research Day Entry Form must be emailed to Dr. Shawn Holliday, associate dean of graduate studies, at spholliday@nwosu.edu. Forms can be found at www.nwosu.edu/ranger-research-day.

Ranger Research Day will begin at 8 a.m. and will conclude by noon. Entries for poster presentations are welcomed from all academic disciplines. Registration and set-up will begin at 7:30 a.m. Judging of posters will begin at 9 a.m. The public will be allowed to view the posters at 10 a.m.

The abstract should run between 125–250 words. Student entries are required to have a faculty sponsor; student entries without appropriate faculty sponsors will not be allowed to participate. Faculty members will be asked to confirm their sponsorship of a project.

Student poster presentations are eligible for awards ranging from first through third place. The key to building a poster is to present a good argument in visual terms. Posters should include a brief abstract, a short introduction, aim(s) of the research, results and discussion. Lettering should be large and legible. Posters may not exceed 48 x 48 and should be mounted on a tri-fold display.

All entries will receive a certificate of participation, and researchers are encouraged to enter their research projects in Oklahoma Research Day 2011 at Cameron University on Nov. 4.
