Northwestern to promote spirit with Ranger Rally '08

August 20, 2008

Calling all Ranger fans! Calling all Ranger fans!

Northwestern Oklahoma State University welcomes the public and the Northwestern community to attend Ranger Rally ’08, a pep rally to be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Ranger Field.

This event will take place Wednesday night before the Rangers’ football team competes against long-time rival Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, Aug. 28.

The Lady Rangers’ soccer team begins its season at home on Aug. 30 against Hastings College (Neb.) at 7 p.m., at the Alva Recreation Complex.

Events in conjunction with a pep rally begin at 8 p.m., with KNSU providing music for the evening. The first 150 students, who present a student ID, will receive their choice of a free movie pass from Rialto or a Northwestern t-shirt. Rowdy Rangers will serve free hotdogs to the first 400 people who attend the Ranger Rally.

Games will be provided for Northwestern students. The student body is encouraged to participate in the extra point and pass throwing contests. Students will have an hour to kick an extra point or toss a football into a net. Qualifiers will receive a ticket and be eligible to win $50 in cash through a drawing. Four $50 prizes will be given away during the evening.

All students must show their student ID to be eligible to participate in games and receive cash prizes.

At 9 p.m., Ranger Rally ’08 (Under the Lights) begins with performances by the Ranger Band and Cheerleaders and guest speakers.

Ranger Rally ’08 is designed to build spirit in anticipation of the home openers for football and soccer.

This event is sponsored by the Baptist Student Union, Student Government Association, Rialto and the Rowdy Rangers.
