ALVA (9-13-11) — A group young students got a chance to hang with the “big boys” on Tuesday morning as the Ranger football team hosted five first grade classes from the Alva community.
Five classes of first grade students from the Washington Early Childhood Center in Alva visited Ranger Field where they got the opportunity to tour the new South End Zone Complex and Myers Stadium.
During their tour of the new locker rooms and weight room, the Northwestern players compared their responsibilities as student-athletes to the responsibilities young kids have at home and school. The players encouraged the young guests to respect their parents, elders and teachers, and to take care of themselves.
Following the tours around the complex, the elementary school students and players then took the field. Ranger players join in with the kids, helping them build their skills, teaching them the basics of football.
