ALVA, Okla. – Lana Keith scored nearly half of Southern Nazarene’s 68 points as the Crimson Storm defeated Northwestern 68-57 in SAC Conference action at Percefull Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Southern Nazarene’s 11-point lead midway thought the first half was cut after Northwestern used an 8-1 run to narrow the score to 19-15. The Crimson Storm took a 31-21 lead into the half.
Northwestern found itself further behind after SNU kicked the second half off with a 15-4 run and led 49-27.
Down by 21, the Lady Rangers battled back with a 14-2 run that spanned over four minutes to pull within nine points with 45 seconds left, but NWOSU ran out of time for a comeback.
The Lady Rangers hit a fourth of their shots as they were 17-of-69 overall and were 4-of-20 from three. Northwestern hit 19-of-27 from the free throw line.
D’Shanna Butler led four double figure scorers with 15 points and nine boards. Claudia Vazquez added 13 points, while Emily Gilbert scored 12 points. Autumn Klugh hit three of the four Rangers treys and finished with 11 points.
Southern Nazarene shot 42 percent and was heavily paced with Logan Martin’s career high of 33 points. Martin hit 9-of-16 from the field and added 12 points from the charity stripe.
Northwestern (7-8, 2-7) will head to Texas next week to play Lubbock Christian and Wayland Baptist.
