MCPHERSON, Kan. – Northwestern Oklahoma State’s golf teams got there fall season underway at the Central Christian Invitation at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson, Kansas. Both the Ranger men and women competed.
On the men’s side, Northwestern finished in sixth place as a team, just three strokes shy of fifth place. Individually, Matt Lee finished second after he lost a scorecard playoff. He shot a 76-69—145 on the day. Byant Briggs followed with a pair of 76’s for a 152 total. Not far behind was Ty Brilley with a 79-76—155. Jay Lee fired a 88-75—163, while Matt Kirk and Brent Anderson recorded a 178 and 181 respectively.
Northwestern’s women had four golfer’s compete in the field of 12. Cari Hall won medalist honors with a 78-86—164, while Linda Ladd finished third after shooting an 86-84—170. Meghan Carey carded a 100-105—205 and Emily Beard ended with a 108-111—219.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will be back in action on October 6-7 when they play in the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Invitational at Sunset Hills Golf Course in Guymon.
