Northwestern's Ranger Baseball Field has been home of Ranger Baseball since the field was complete in 1969. The field will under go a cosmetic lift after the completion of the 2008 baseball season.
A $300,000 gift from Todd and Mary Margaret Miller of Alva will create a new permanent seating area named in honor of Mary Margaret's parents, W.D. Jr., and Lillie Myers. In addition to the seating area, the gift will construct new dugouts and create significantly more aesthetically pleasing areas surrounding the field. The structure will feature the use of brick, concrete and iron work that is prominent in many of today's major league ballparks.
Phase II of the renovation will include an indoor hitting facility and player locker room.
Gates for access to Ranger Baseball Field are located at the northeast and southwest corners of the area.
In September 2007, President Janet Cunningham announced the school's intentions to improve the football and baseball venues to meet the needs of a modern-day collegiate athletic program. Northwestern has termed this athletic renaissance the Vision for Victory Campaign. Projects included as part of this campaign include a new football locker room, which will include; space for athletic training and strength training facilities, a new press box and public use facility, permanent seating and new dugouts at the baseball field, and a new indoor practice facility four our baseball and softball teams.
