September 7, 2007 to rebuild football, baseball facilities The Charles Morton Share Trust of Alva has pledged a lead gift of $1.5 million to Northwestern Oklahoma State University to begin the school’s “Vision for Victory” plan of rebuilding its intercollegiate football and baseball facilities. The gift ties the largest gift ever given to Northwestern, also from the Share Trust, and represents the largest gift ever given to the university’s athletics program. Read more...
September 5, 2007 offers variety of attractions Season kicks off with Riders in the Sky The popular Riders in the Sky will make a return appearance to kickoff the 2007-2008 Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. The Riders, a multi-Grammy Award-winning quartet, will appear at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Herod Hall Auditorium. This season also will feature Oklahoma native Jimmy Webb on Nov. 12, the Ambassadors’ Concert Choir on Feb. 23, 2008, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra on April 14, 2008.
August 31, 2007 set for Oct. 4, Chesapeake title sponsor A field of nearly 100 golfers is expected to participate in the 8th annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University President’s Association Golf Classic, Thursday, Oct. 4, at Boiling Springs Golf Course near Woodward. The event is a benefit for the President’s Association program at Northwestern. Since its inception in 2000, the organization has supported the development of the President’s Leadership Class program, sponsored the participation of students in national events and competitions, provided funds for special unmet needs to enhance teaching and learning, and supported special projects to enhance student recruitment and retention. September 4, 2007 Woods County Fair patrons will have the opportunity to get their blood pressure checked, get an athlete’s autograph and register for prizes at Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s booth in the Merchants Building Sept. 6-8. Members of the university’s nursing program will be at the booth from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday; 3 to 5 p.m., Friday; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, to provide blood pressure checks as a service to the community. August 20, 2007 August 30, 2007 work for annual event Oct. 4-6 The Northwestern Oklahoma State University annual homecoming event has been scheduled for Oct. 4, 5 and 6, and the committee that organizes the celebration has already begun work. The theme is: Homecoming 007 – Northwestern and Oklahoma BOND Forever.
