Share Trust provides $1.5 million lead gift
to rebuild football, baseball facilities
The Charles Morton Share Trust of Alva has pledged a lead gift of $1.5 million to Northwestern Oklahoma State University to begin the school’s “Vision for Victory” plan of rebuilding its intercollegiate football and baseball facilities.

The gift ties the largest gift ever given to Northwestern, also from the Share Trust, and represents the largest gift ever given to the university’s athletics program.  Read more...


The proposed new football locker room at Northwestern Oklahoma State University includes more locker room space, a weight training facility for the athletics department, an expanded sports medicine area, meeting rooms and public lobby. A press box for the baseball stadium is incorporated on the north side of the facility. Three other architect's drawings are provided by clicking here.

Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series
offers variety of attractions
Season kicks off with Riders in the Sky
The popular Riders in the Sky will make a return appearance to kickoff the 2007-2008 Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.

The Riders, a multi-Grammy Award-winning quartet, will appear at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Herod Hall Auditorium. This season also will feature Oklahoma native Jimmy Webb on Nov. 12, the Ambassadors’ Concert Choir on Feb. 23, 2008, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra on April 14, 2008.

President's Association Golf Classic
set for Oct. 4, Chesapeake title sponsor
A field of nearly 100 golfers is expected to participate in the 8th annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University President’s Association Golf Classic, Thursday, Oct. 4, at Boiling Springs Golf Course near Woodward.

The event is a benefit for the President’s Association program at Northwestern. Since its inception in 2000, the organization has supported the development of the President’s Leadership Class program, sponsored the participation of students in national events and competitions, provided funds for special unmet needs to enhance teaching and learning, and supported special projects to enhance student recruitment and retention.  Read more...

Northwestern prepares for county fair
Woods County Fair patrons will have the opportunity to get their blood pressure checked, get an athlete’s autograph and register for prizes at Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s booth in the Merchants Building Sept. 6-8.

Members of the university’s nursing program will be at the booth from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday; 3 to 5 p.m., Friday; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, to provide blood pressure checks as a service to the community. Read more...

National leader in lowest student debt
Students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University walked to class for the first day of the fall semester today with a little greater sense of school pride after learning that their school was recognized nationally in the latest U.S. News and World Report college rankings.

Homecoming committee begins
work for annual event Oct. 4-6
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University annual homecoming event has been scheduled for Oct. 4, 5 and 6, and the committee that organizes the celebration has already begun work.

The theme is: Homecoming 007 – Northwestern and Oklahoma BOND Forever.

The Second Annual Faculty/Staff Eastside vs. Westside Smackdown Softball game will be Thursday, Sept. 27, at 4 p.m. at Ranger Baseball Field. Northwestern employees who would like to play in this game should contact Dr. James Therrell, assistant professor of education, at (580) 327-8448 or jatherrell@nwosu.edu. Dr. Mark Davis, professor of psychology, and Therrell both hope that even if employees aren't able to come out until 5 p.m., come when possible to play an inning or just enjoy the fun. Everyone is welcome to come watch.
