Two to present classical piano concert at Northwestern

The beautiful music of a classical piano piece will be doubled when Dr. Ling-Yu Kan and Dr. Rodney Murrow present a concert at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Kan, assistant professor of music, and Murrow, professor of music and associate dean of graduate studies, will be on stage at Herod Hall Auditorium at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 6.  Read more...

Professional Development Workshops offered March 13,
speaker also keynote for AAUW Banquet that evening
Two hour-long workshops will be offered at the Alva campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, March 13.

The first is titled “Rekindling the Passion and Enlarging Your Vision” and will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Wyatt Room of the Student Center. The other is “Multicultural Diversity” and also will be in the Wyatt Room from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.  Read more...

'Oklahoma Reads' author to speak in library March 13
Rilla Askew, author of Fire in Beulah, will be a guest speaker at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 13, in the J.W. Martin Library at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The novel was selected as the Oklahoma Reads Oklahoma Book for 2007. The event is co-sponsored by the Alva Public Library.

Three receive Continental Resources Awards
Three senior accounting students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University have been awarded $500 scholarships from Continental Resources, Inc. of Enid. Read more...


The story of an early pioneer woman in Virginia was featured during Northwestern-Enid’s annual Winter Chautauqua March 1. “Mary Draper Ingles: Woman of Perseverance” was portrayed by Karen Vuranch. She also took part in a morning workshop on the topic “Tough Times, Tough Women” and a noon brown bag luncheon.

Harmon to head project to reduce crime against women
As part of a $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to benefit the Regional University System of Oklahoma, Northwestern Oklahoma State University has selected Sandra Harmon as coordinator of its Project to Reduce Crime Against Women (PRCAW).  Read more ...

Rodeo team starts spring season with a win at K-State
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s rodeo started the spring season with a win at Kansas State University last weekend and the men’s team placed third.

“Our freshman girls really stepped up this past weekend,” said coach Tim Kolb. “That speaks volumes about our future in the collegiate rodeo arena. I promised a win at the “All Sports” pep assembly and that’s exactly what happened—our women’s team won the rodeo and our men’s team finished third. We’re all really excited, and we’re looking for more wins from both teams as the spring season progresses."

International students teach about native countries
Seven international students from Northwestern Oklahoma State University traveled to Woodward Feb. 22 to meet with area Girl Scouts and share information about their home countries.

Members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Psychology Club prepare to deliver boxes of non-perishable food items Feb. 27 to the local Community Food Pantry that they collected during a recent on-campus food drive to help replenish food distributed over the holidays. Making the delivery are Dr. Mark Davis, professor of psychology and sponsor of the club; Kasya Frech, Helena freshman; Misty Warfield, Cherokee junior; and Trent Spade, Alva freshman.
