February 12, 2008 Students, faculty to experience state of the art facilities
One year from now, students majoring in programs through Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Natural Science and the Department of Health and Sports Science Education, will do so via state of art facilities. The $4.6 million renovation of the university’s Health and Sports Science Education and Science buildings currently is underway with the first classes back inside these facilities scheduled to be in the Spring 2009. February 12, 2008 shares real life situations Northwestern Oklahoma State University alumnus Willie Spears will be in Alva Thursday and Friday to speak in a few university classes and also promote his first book, “Keisha’s Dilemma.” Spears, who graduated with a mass communications degree in 2000 and was a member of the 1999 NAIA National Champion Ranger football team, recently ventured into the book writing field after his students in Panama City, Fla., and Kingsland, Ga., told him they didn’t like to read, and there weren’t any books out there they even wanted to read.
February 12, 2008 The dedication of “The Ranger” statue at Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Enid Campus will be at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 29. The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony, which will be held on the east side of the campus. “The Ranger” is a larger than life-sized bronze embodiment of a bucking horse and rider, the university’s most enduring symbol that serves as a focal point for Ranger pride. It was sculpted by noted western artist Harold Holden of Kremlin. Read more...
February 8, 2008 The Ambassadors’ Concert Choir of Oklahoma City will be the next Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series event. The group will perform at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, in Herod Hall Auditorium at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Tickets for the event are $10 for adults, $5 for students and are available at Holder Drug, Schuhmacher’s, Alva Chamber of Commerce and Northwestern Bookstore or by calling (580) 327-8590. February 12, 2008 Dr. Ling-Yu Alice Kan, assistant professor of music at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and baritone Jeffrey Snider will present a recital at 3 p.m., Sunday, in Herod Hall Auditorium. Admission is free. The duo will present a variety of music from some of the world’s best composers, including “See the raging flames arise” by Handel, “An die Ferne Geliebte” by Beethoven and “Serenada Don-Zhuana,” “Kak naladili: Durak,” “Podvig” and “Blagoslavlyayu vas, lesa” by Tchaikovsky.
February 12, 2008 to be featured in Winter Chautauqua The story of an early pioneer woman in Virginia will be featured during Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid’s annual Winter Chautauqua. “Mary Draper Ingles: Woman of Perseverance” is the title of the presentation. Ingles will be portrayed by Karen Vuranch at a Chautauqua performance at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 1, in the commons area at the Enid campus at 2929 E. Randolph. Admission is free. February 7, 2008 Enrollment in spring semester classes at Northwestern Oklahoma State University increased slightly from a year ago according to figures in a preliminary enrollment report presented to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Overall headcount enrollment increased by 18 students to 1,907, an increase of almost 1 percent from last year’s figure of 1,889. The number of credit hours generated by student enrollment increased more than 2 percent to 22,462 hours. Read more... January 31,

January 23, 2008 The 2008 class of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Sports Hall of Fame will include Brian Clothier of Edmond; Jeff Ellison of Dallas, Texas; Michael Perkins of Quartz Hill, Calif.; and Willie Tennyson of Milledgeville, Ga. This year’s class will be honored at a luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, and at halftime of the Ranger men’s basketball game with Wayland Baptist University that afternoon. The women’s game will tip off at 2 p.m. and the men’s game at 4 p.m. Read more... February 6, 2008 Forty-five education majors at Northwestern Oklahoma State University began their student teaching semester Monday, Feb. 4. The students will return to campus for seminars on March 28 and April 28, and student teaching will end on May 2. Their portfolio exit interviews will be April 29 through May 2. Graduation is scheduled for May 3. The students, their hometowns, majors and teaching assignments are as follows:
