Fall 2007 NWOSU Finals Schedule

* Important Commencement Information *

Northwestern is closely monitoring weather forecasts for a potential weekend winter storm that could impact commencement ceremonies scheduled for Sunday, December 9.  The latest forecast calls for the likelihood of freezing rain or snow across the region beginning sometime on Saturday and lasting through the early part of the week.  Widespread travel problems and the potential for power outages could exist.

Commencement is an important university celebration, but the safety of our students and their families will be our paramount concern.  Should the forecasts be accurate and winter weather hits the area, Northwestern will make any decisions regarding commencement by 8 a.m. on Sunday.  Information will be relayed to students through university e-mail accounts, the Northwestern website homepage at www.nwosu.edu, and through local media outlets.

If you have family and friends planning to attend commencement, we encourage you to stay in contact with them regarding weather conditions and commencement information.

Chancellor visits campus

Dr. Glen Johnson, Chancellor for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (second from left), visited the Northwestern Oklahoma State University campuses in Woodward and Alva Thursday. The Chancellor visited with LaVern Phillips, director of the Woodward Industrial Foundation (left); Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president (center); Dr. Jeff Hale, associate vice chancellor for administration; and Dr. Deena Fisher, Woodward campus dean, at the Woodward campus construction site. The group toured the site to see how far along the construction has come. The building is scheduled to be finished in late summer 2008. The group then drove to Alva where the Chancellor delivered a briefing to legislators and community leaders to highlight the legislative agenda of the state regents. More photos from the visit in Woodward and Alva can be found by clicking here.
