Alumnus honors mentor by establishing
endowed chair in her honor
For more than 50 years, Dr. Anna B. Fisher walked the sidewalks of NorthwesternDr. Anna B. Fisher Oklahoma State University as a professor, chairman of the biology department, and secretary for the Northwestern Foundation. She is best known for her work with students who wanted and attained success in the medical field.

Dr. Fisher joined the faculty in 1927 as an assistant professor of biology and retired as the chair of the biology department in 1969. After 43 years of teaching, she decided to focus her efforts on being a member of the Northwestern Foundation staff. She was the executive secretary until her death in 1984.

Dr. Fisher was a very energetic person who strived to get the best out of her students and help them realize their potential to do great things. Of the hundreds of her students who went on to pursue medical careers, Jerome Reichenberger, M.D., of Phoenix, Ariz., decided it was time to honor his mentor through providing funds to establish an endowed faculty chair in science.

Daughter of Northwestern employee has Girl Scout project
Rylan Castleberry, daughter of Rita Castleberry who works as a loan officer in the Northwestern Financial Aid office, is working on her Silver Project for Girl Scouts where she has to create a community service project. Her project is “Connecting with Cards.” She currently is collecting Christmas cards to distribute to people who may not be able to purchase them. Depending upon the number she collects, she plans to provide them to local nursing homes, domestic violence center, Northwest Treatment Center and Bill Johnson Correctional Center. These cards may be new or unused cards from previous years and can be dropped off in the Financial Aid Office. Rylan is hoping this will become an annual project and touch the lives of many. For more information contact Rita Castleberry at (580) 327-8164 or rjcastleberry@nwosu.edu .
