September 20, 2006 “Ride with Pride,” a new year-long campaign at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, kicked off Wednesday.
Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, said that upon becoming president in July, one of her short-term goals was to develop a plan to build university pride among Northwestern employees, students, alumni and friends. “We have much to be proud about at Northwestern, and we need to showcase the great things that are occurring at our campuses,” Cunningham said. September 20, 2006 Dr. Carol McKenzie, who became director of the program this summer, said 92 percent of the spring graduates passed the required exam on the first try, and the two who did not are expected to retake the test soon. Read more... September 20,

He will discuss “The Holocaust and Beyond” in Herod Hall Auditorium. The public is invited to attend. Read more... September 18, 2006 CCR concert centerpiece to Red Riot Week events Plans for Red Riot Week at Northwestern Oklahoma State University continue as the final touches are underway on the Cross Canadian Ragweed concert and other activities, including the traditional Family Day events. The centerpiece to Red Riot Week, sponsored by the student group R-Unit, is the concert scheduled for Sept. 27 at 8:30 p.m. in Percefull Fieldhouse, and tickets are still available for $20, said David Pecha, vice president for administration and coordinator of the concert. They are available through the business offices in Alva and Enid and the administrative offices in Woodward. The concert may be taking place on the Northwestern campus, but university officials want everyone to know the concert is open to the general public, too. “It’s not often that we can say we’re able to see a well-known band of any genre in concert for $20 right here in northwest Oklahoma,” Pecha said. “We hope the Northwestern community and members in surrounding towns will come out to support this special event. September 12, 2006 Northwestern to offer two Tri-State Music Festival scholarships Northwestern Oklahoma State University will provide two one-year scholarships beginning next spring to participants in the Tri-State Music Festival held annually in Enid. One scholarship will go to a honor band student and one to a honor choir student. The scholarship amount is $1,000 each. “Northwestern is proud to be the academic sponsor of the Tri-State Music Festival and we are excited about this opportunity to provide further educational opportunities to Tri-State participants,” said Dr. Mike Knedler, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. “Tri-State is a great event for the city of Enid and we support it fully.” Read more... September 13, 2006 to win Meet & Greet passes to concert Northwestern Oklahoma State University students will have a chance to win backstage passes to a Meet & Greet with members of the country/southern rock band Cross Canadian Ragweed prior to their concert Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Percefull Fieldhouse. Two students attending classes at Northwestern’s Alva campus will win the backstage passes for themselves and a guest with one student winning a pass for themselves and a guest at both the Enid and Woodward campuses. The winners also will receive one music CD from the band and coupons for a drink and food item at the R-Unit sponsored concession stand during the concert. Tickets to the concert itself are not included as part of the Meet & Greet prize. Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 18-22 in the following locations:
September 11, 2006 Presidential Partners Golf Classic Oct. 5; Chesapeake Energy is title sponsor A field of nearly 100 golfers is expected to participate in the 7th annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Presidential Partners Golf Classic, Thursday, Oct. 5 at Boiling Springs Golf Course near Woodward. The event is a benefit for the Presidential Partners program at Northwestern. Since its inception in 2000, the program has supported the development of the President’s Leadership Class program, sponsored the participation of students in national events and competitions, provided funds for special unmet needs to enhance teaching and learning, and supported special projects to enhance student recruitment and retention.
