Freshman Orientation, Howdy Week planned
Fall semester classes begin Monday at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, but activities are getting an early start with Freshman Orientation on Saturday.

Required for all first-time freshmen, the orientation serves as a formal introduction to Northwestern and some of its traditions.   Read more...

Alumni Association plans bus trip to Wheat Bowl
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is sponsoring a bus trip to Great Bend, Kan., when the Rangers play Lindenwood University (Mo.). in the Wheat Bowl football game Saturday, Aug. 26.

Lizabeth Richey, alumni director, said the bus ride to and from Great Bend will be $21. Adult tickets to the game are $8, children’s tickets (ages 6-12) are $5 and children under 6 will be admitted free. All bus passengers also will be included in a tailgate party at Great Bend Memorial Stadium.  Read more...



Kevin Kerr and the Northwestern Ranger band spent this past week in a "camp" to prepare for its first marching performance at the Ranger football home opener Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. against Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Summer session honor rolls announced
Honor roll listings for the 2006 summer session at Northwestern Oklahoma State University include 137 students enrolled at the Alva, Enid and Woodward campuses. Of that number, 103 are on the President’s Honor Roll and 34 are on the Vice-President’s Honor Roll.

All students—undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate—on the President’s list had all As (a 4.0 grade point average) in a minimum of seven hours of work.

Those on the Vice-President’s list had grade averages of 3.5 or better for a minimum of seven hours of work.

Red Riot Concert to feature
Cross Canadian Ragweed Sept. 27

One of the nation’s hottest alternative country music groups will perform at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva during the student-led Red Riot week.

Cross Canadian Ragweed, an Oklahoma based group, will make its way back to the state for a performance on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at 8:30 p.m., in Northwestern’s Percefull Fieldhouse.

General admission tickets for the concert go on sale Aug. 28 in the business offices of Northwestern’s Alva and Enid campuses and in the administrative offices at the Woodward campus.

Fans also can purchase tickets by MasterCard, Visa or Discover by calling (580) 327-8534 or (580) 213-3104. Approximately 1,250 tickets will be made available to the general public. Current Northwestern students will be eligible to win another 300 tickets while sponsors and members of Cross Canadian Ragweed’s official fan club will have exclusive access to another 250 tickets.

Advance tickets available
for 12th annual Wheat Bowl
Tickets for the 12th Annual Wheat Bowl Classic played in Great Bend, Kan., on Aug. 26, in which Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Lindenwood (Mo.) University open up the 2006 NAIA football season, are now on sale.

Advance discounted tickets for the game are available for purchase with cash, check or credit card at the Northwestern Business Office. Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit card purchases can be placed over the phone to the Northwestern Business Office at (580) 327-8534. All tickets ordered must be picked up at the Business Office.

Adult tickets are $8 and children’s tickets ages 6-12 are $5. Children under the age of 6 are admitted free.

Ticket sales will end at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25. Prices will increase to $10 the day of the game.
