Alva 8th graders attend Education 102

Northwestern Oklahoma State University basketball coach Bob Battisti talks with eighth graders from Alva Middle School as part of Education 102, a joint program between the university and the Northwest Technology Center to encourage middle school students to begin planning now for their educational futures. The group was escorted by members of Leadership Northwestern, who also answered questions from the younger students. Battisti urged students to take advantage of their opportunities, not to be limited in aspirations and to resist peer pressure that might divert them from their goals. The coach also pointed out that college graduates earn, on average, $1 million more in their lifetimes than workers with only high school diplomas.

Northwestern shows its support
for those at Virginia Tech

To show Northwestern's support for those at Virginia Tech following the recent tragedy, the Northwestern Student Government Association coordinated getting the Ranger Flag donated from the Foundation and getting students, faculty, staff and administration to sign the flag. The Student Services Office created a paper banner in the Student Center along with orange and maroon ribbons to wear on Friday.  All items will be sent to Virginia Tech as soon as possible.
