in Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir

Eight Northwestern Oklahoma State University students will perform with the Oklahoma All-Collegiate Choir Saturday, March 31, in Norman. The concert will take place at 3:30 p.m. at the First Christian Church. Admission is free and the public is invited. Members of the university and public communities are invited to participate in a free professional workshop to be presented at Northwestern Oklahoma State University by the Walch Center for Business Development and the Professional Development Center (PDC).

Trick shot pool artist at NWOSU April 5
Event free to all university students, employees, alumni            Internationally famous pocket billiard and trick shot artist Jack White will be coming to Northwestern on the evening of April 5.

White, who is on a national tour, will be in Alva’s Coronado Hall front lobby at 6 p.m. to perform some of his spectacular trick shots and take on any willing “pool sharks” from the crowd.

First Ranger Research Day March 30
Dr. Stephen Painton, 1969 Northwestern Oklahoma State University graduate, will be the keynote speaker at the first annual Ranger Research Day on Friday, March 30.

Painton is director of the John W. Keys Speech and Hearing Center and associate professor and undergraduate coordinator for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, all at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC).  Read more...

Mechanical test prep course
offered at NWOSU beginning April 14

The Professional Development Center (PDC) at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will offer a preparatory course to prepare journeymen and contractors to pass the Oklahoma Mechanical Licensing Examination.

The course will be presented from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on April 14, April 21, May 5 and May 12, all Saturdays. Cost of the course is $175, which includes $120 worth of books and materials, and students will be required to attend all four classes. Read more...

Area Girl Scouts of all ages recently had the opportunity to meet and learn from five international students studying at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Lavanya Jaganathan of Malaysia, Ngalula “Nice” Mutsipayi of the Congo, Judy Okoth of Kenya, Iva Stoyneva of Bulgaria and Shieka Madzima of Zimbabwe attended a meeting in the Alva Girl Scout Hut to share information about their countries.  Read more...

NWOSU Art Society Art Show approaching
Special Oklahoma category, photography division revamped
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) is sponsoring its fourth annual Art Show coming up at the end of April and will highlight a special category to honor Oklahoma’s Centennial. All university employees and students are encouraged to enter the show.

This year, NAS members have reorganized the structure of the show’s divisions and categories, some with noticeable changes. There now are three divisions and 18 categories within those divisions. They are as follows:  Read more...

NWOSU participating in statewide program
to help adults return to college for degree

Northwestern Oklahoma State University will take part in a new statewide program to help Oklahomans and other adults return to college to complete their bachelor’s degrees.

“ReachHigher: Oklahoma’s Degree Completion Program” was approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to begin in March and will involve nine public universities across the state.  Read more...

Investiture of President Janet
Cunningham set for April 13
            Northwestern Oklahoma State University will formally invest President Janet Cunningham with the symbols of office during tradition-filled ceremonies on Friday, April 13, in Alva. State leaders in government and higher education, along with delegates from other colleges and universities are expected to attend.
