Barefield named as head football coach
Coach to be introduced Monday during ceremony
A veteran coach who has built successful football programs at three different levels of competition has been named as the new head football coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Keith Barefield will be introduced as head coach during a ceremony Monday, March 12, at 10 a.m., in the Ranger Room of the Student Center. The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony and meet the coach.  Read more...



Long-time Fine Arts Building resident John Barton returned to campus to celebrate the building's 100th birthday Tuesday, March 6. Barton, who retired in 1995 as the dean of the school of language, fine arts and humanities, had an office in the building for 29 years. For more photos, click here.

Alumni Association arranging fan bus trip
to Kansas City for NAIA basketball games
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is arranging for fans of the Rangers to travel in comfort to watch the basketball team play in the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City.

The bus will depart Ranger Field at 8 a.m., Thursday (March 15). Alumni director Lizabeth Richey said the group would stop for a morning break and for lunch, arriving in Kansas City around 3 p.m. for check-in at the hotel.  Read more...

Ranger fans invited to basketball team
send-off to Kansas City on Monday
All friends and fans of Northwestern Oklahoma State University Ranger basketball are invited to attend a pep rally/send-off as the team begins its journey to Kansas City for the NAIA National Tournament.

The R-UNIT pep group is sponsoring the event at 11:45 a.m., Monday, March 12, on the lawn in front of Jesse Dunn.  Read more...

Cindy Wood signs letter to attend NWOSU
Cindy Wood, a senior at Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., has signed a National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association letter of intent to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University next fall and participate on the university’s rodeo team.  Read more...

Economic Development Council
offers students contest for new logo

Northwestern Oklahoma State University students have a chance to win $500 through the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s Economic Development Council (EDC) logo contest.  The logo will be used on promotional material and on its website, with credit given to the selected creator.  The prize money may be used toward payment of any outstanding school accounts or toward expenses related to their education.  Read more...

NWOSU participating in statewide program
to help adults return to college for degree

Northwestern Oklahoma State University will take part in a new statewide program to help Oklahomans and other adults return to college to complete their bachelor’s degrees.

“ReachHigher: Oklahoma’s Degree Completion Program” was approved by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to begin in March and will involve nine public universities across the state.  Read more...

Women's History Month

Northwestern Oklahoma State University has three events scheduled in March to celebrate “Women’s History Month.” In addition, special women’s history displays will be located in the libraries on the Alva and Enid campuses and in the commons area at the Woodward campus.

Five to be honored at AAUW Women's
Recognition ceremony, dinner March 13
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host its fifth annual Women’s Recognition Ceremony and Dinner honoring women leaders in northwest Oklahoma at 7 p.m., March 13, in the Student Center Ballroom on the campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Investiture of President Janet
Cunningham set for April 13
            Northwestern Oklahoma State University will formally invest President Janet Cunningham with the symbols of office during tradition-filled ceremonies on Friday, April 13, in Alva. State leaders in government and higher education, along with delegates from other colleges and universities are expected to attend.
