Burts make $1,500 donation
to NWOSU Centennial Grounds Project

They said Northwestern Oklahoma State University always has been good to the Burt family, so they decided it was time to give back.

Jim and Linda Burt of Alva donated $1,500 to the Northwestern Foundation Thursday, funds that most likely will be earmarked for a Centennial Grounds project on campus.  Read more...


On behalf of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, accepts a check for $1,500 from Jim and Linda Burt. The funds eventually will be used for a Centennial grounds project on campus.

Sports Hall of Fame to honor three
The 2007 class of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Sports Hall of Fame will include Dennis Rountree of Broken Arrow, Robert “Bob” Drake of Woodward and Craig Chestnut of Mustang.

The trio will be honored at a luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, and at halftime of the Ranger men’s basketball game with Southern Nazarene University that afternoon. The women’s game will tip off at 2 p.m. and the men’s game at 4 p.m.

The luncheon is open to the public, but reservations are required. The cost is $15 per person and reservations need to be made with the Alumni Association Office, (580) 327-8593, by Jan. 10. The event will be held in the Student Center Ballroom.  Read more...

receives beautification award
Northwestern Oklahoma State University Physical Plant employees have been honored by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, Inc. and their fellow staff members for their campus beautification efforts.

Northwestern placed first in the educational institutions category of the annual Environmental Excellence competition held annually by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful.   Read more...

Students heading to Florida
for national agriculture meet

Helena senior Mandy Jo Campbell is the 2006 winner of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Collegiate Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Discussion Meet that took place at Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Dec. 14. Runners-up in the third annual contest are Tyler Classen, Fairview sophomore, and Marcy VenJohn, Ingalls, Kan., junior.

Steve Sneary, Northwestern YF&R sponsor, said that these three students will now travel to Jacksonville, Fla., Feb. 8-13 to participate against students from more than 100 different universities in the American Farm Bureau Collegiate Young Farmers & Ranchers National Discussion Meet.  Read more...

You Should Know:
Remember to save empty wrapping paper tubes and used tissue paper from gifts received to donate to the Northwestern theatre program upon returning for the spring semester. These materials will be used to create items for the set for Rodgers' & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, which will be presented in Herod Hall Auditorium in April.
