Northwestern personnel involved
in Make A Difference Day projects
Employees and students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be lending a hand this week as they participate in various projects as a part of a national “Make A Difference Day” event.

Sponsored nationally by USA Weekend Magazine and in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation, Make a Difference Day is the largest national day of helping others. Saturday is the official work day for the 16th annual event, but Northwestern volunteers have chosen projects for both Friday and Saturday.  Read more...

Northwestern to break ground
on Woodward facility Nov. 8

Northwestern Oklahoma State University will break ground Wednesday, Nov. 8, on its new 19,905 square foot general classroom and office building that will house the university’s operations in Woodward.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the construction site located at 2007 34th Street.

In addition to the ground breaking, the University also will commemorate the 10th anniversary of Northwestern’s campus in Woodward.  Read more...

at Northwestern Homecoming
“Get Your Kicks in 2006” is the theme of Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s annual homecoming celebration, Nov. 2-4 in Alva. Hundreds of alumni and former students are expected to return to their alma mater for homecoming activities.  Read more...

Fisher helps with Oklahoma history text
High school Oklahoma history instructors have a new textbook from which to choose thanks to work provided by the dean of Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Woodward campus.

Dr. Deena Fisher, who also serves Northwestern as an associate professor of history, is a contributing editor for Oklahoma: Land of Contrasts, which is up for the Social Science State Adoption list this year as a high school Oklahoma History textbook.  Read more...

Workshop set to teach access methods
for 'American Memory' project Nov. 7
The Government Documents Department of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Libraries will sponsor a free workshop Tuesday, Nov. 7, to teach participants how to effectively access the archival collections provided by the Library of Congress “American Memory” web site.

Commemorative homecoming coin,
t-shirts now available for sale

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alumni Association is now offering for the first time a limited edition commemorative coin in conjunction with the university’s annual homecoming celebration on Nov. 2-4.

The silver coin with red and black accents depicting this year’s homecoming theme of “Get Your Kicks in 2006” is available for $15 in the Alumni Association office in the northwest corner of the Student Center.  Read more...
