PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS SCHEDULED AT NORTHWESTERN
Two hour-long workshops will be offered at the Alva campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, March 13.
The first is titled “Rekindling the Passion and Enlarging Your Vision” and will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Wyatt Room of the Student Center. The other is “Multicultural Diversity” and also will be in the Wyatt Room from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
The workshops will be taught by Ronda Mikles and sponsored by the American Association of University Women. Registration is free, and both sessions are open to community members, as well as employees of Northwestern.
Mikles is president of Mikles Marketing & Management, Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in staff development workshops, customer relations seminars, sales and motivational conferences, as well as retreats.
She is a past president of the Oklahoma City chapter of American Women in Radio and Television and has served as a judge at the National Commendation Awards in Washington, D.C. for outstanding radio and television programming. Mikles was named by Oklahoma Baptist University as a recipient of its prestigious Profile in Excellence Award and is a past president of OBU’s Alumni Board of Directors.
She said of the first workshop, “It’s amazing how passionate we get about the things we enjoy. This workshop will explore some valuable ways to divert that energy into some areas beyond yourself and make the most of the time you have to make a lasting impact in your world.”
She described multicultural diversity as a structured process designed to cultivate understanding, acceptance and constructive relations among people of many different cultures. She said workshop will address how to translate that concept into curriculum, as well as individuals’ attitudes.
Mikles will be the keynote speaker at the AAUW’s annual Women of Recognition Dinner the same day at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.
To reserve a place at the workshops, interested persons should contact Dr. Sheila Brintnall at (580) 327-8582, Dr. Cindy Pfeifer-Hill at (580) 327-8563 or Carmen Eicken at (580) 327-8106.
