REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR TO BE AT NORTHWESTERN WEDNESDAY
Students from 11 schools as far away as Guymon will be at Northwestern Oklahoma State University Wednesday for the Regional Science Fair. Other schools participating are Aline-Cleo, Alva, Buffalo, Enid, Gage, Medford, Okeene, Shattuck, Vici and Waukomis.
Registration and set-up of projects in the Ranger Room and Ballroom of the Student Center will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Judging will be from noon until 3 p.m., and the public may view the projects from 3 to 5 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium.
There are two divisions for judging—Division I for students in grades 10 through 12, and Division II for students in grades 7 through 9. Categories for projects include Botany, Zoology, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Behavioral and Social Science and Biochemistry, Medicine and Health Sciences. There also is a team category that encompasses all the subject areas.
Medals will be awarded to the top three projects in each category. There also will be grand and reserve champions in each division.
The top projects from Northwestern’s Regional Fair will go on to the Oklahoma State Science & Engineering Fair held March 27-29 at East Central University in Ada. The very best projects will go on to the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair May 11-17 in Atlanta.
