FRESHMAN QUEEN, RANGER KING, QUEEN FINALISTS ANNOUNCED
Kristin Castle of Jet Thursday was crowned Freshman Queen at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, one of the first official events leading to the university’s annual homecoming celebration next week.

Castle is majoring in nursing and is a member of the women’s basketball team, Chi Alpha, Baptist Student Union and R-Unit, the university pep club. She is the daughter of Kent and Paula Castle.
The finalists for Ranger Queen and Ranger King were announced and a run-off election will be held next week to determine the winners. They will be crowned at half-time of the football game with Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Saturday, Oct. 6. Castle and the finalists also will ride in the homecoming parade, which begins at 10 a.m. that day.
Ranger Queen finalists are Micah Corn, a sophomore from Blackwell; Brandi Parker, a sophomore from Fort Supply; and Melissa Province, a junior from Meade, Kan.
Since only four men ran for Ranger King, all were declared finalists. They are Nick Holdeman, a senior from Fairview; Clayton Holub, a senior from Garden City, Kan.; Jordan Lytle, a senior from Medicine Lodge, Kan.; and Andrew Nicholas, a junior from Midwest City.
Corn is a member of the cheerleading squad and was sponsored by that organization. She is majoring in pre-veterinary medicine and is a member of Chemistry Club. She is the daughter of Missy and David Corn.
Chi Alpha is the sponsor of Brandi Parker, who has a double major in psychology and secondary education with an emphasis in social science. A resident assistant in South Hall, she is a member of the Dorm Council and Baptist Student Union and participates in intramural sports and theatre. She is daughter of Randy and Bobbi Parker.
Province is sponsored by the Ranger football team. She participates in Venture Crew and R-Unit. She is married to Kirt Province of Ashland, Kan., who is the hall supervisor for Ament Hall. She is the daughter of Brad and Tammy Bird.
Holdeman is a cheerleader and a member of Acacia fraternity. A criminal justice/sociology major, he is sponsored by the cheerleading squad. He is the son of Becki Kopf.
Holub is a mass communications major who also is a member of Acacia. He has been active with NWTV Channel 7, KNSU radio and the Northwestern News, and is sponsored by the Oklahoma Broadcast Educators Association. He is the son of Dave and Vickie Germann.
A biology/animal science major, Lytle is a member of Biology Club and serves as a Ranger Connector for freshman students. He is sponsored by Biology Club and is the son of Rolland and Madelyn Lytle.
Nicholas serves as president of Acacia fraternity, which also is his sponsor. He is a member of the cheerleading squad, Student Government Association and Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature. He is a former member of the golf team and the President’s Leadership Class.
