NORTHWESTERN TROMBONE PLAYER TO PRESENT SENIOR RECITAL

            Yvonne Colle-Burden of Medicine Lodge, Kan., will present her senior recital at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 2, in room 200 of the Fine Arts Building at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.

            A trombonist, Colle-Burden will perform accompanied solos of “Old Kentucky Home” by Clay Smith, “Concertino” by Ferdinand David, “Romanza Appassionata” by Carlos Maria von Weber and “Vocalise” by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Accompanists will be Camille Colle, Dr. Ling-Yu Kan and Dr. Kathryn Lindberg.

            Colle-Burden also will perform an unaccompanied solo, “A Spell” by Shigeru Kan-no and join the trombone choir to present “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss” by David Holsinger, based on Bliss’ composition “It Is Well with My Soul.” The choir concludes the recital with a rousing rendition of “Russian Sailor’s Dance.”

            A four-year member of the Ranger band, jazz band and trombone choir, Colle-Burden is president of the Lambda Omega chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. Members and prospective members of Lambda Omega will assist with the recital.
