NORTHWESTERN JAZZ BAND TO PRESENT CONCERT
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Jazz Band will take the stage of Herod Hall Auditorium at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 8. The performance is free of charge, and the public is invited to attend.
Directed by Max Ridgway, the group will present a variety of tunes ranging from classic to current.
Included in the program are “Peter Gunn” by Henry Mancini, “Blues in the Night” by Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen; “Fever” by John Davenport and Eddie J. Cooley, “Summertime” by Du Bose Heyward and George Gershwin, “Basin Street Blues” by Spencer Williams, “Jump, Jive an’ Wail” by Louis Prima, “Birdland” by Josef Zawinul and “Damage Control” by Larry Neeck.
Jazz band members include:
Alto saxophone—Alicia Coffin, Enid sophomore, and Keith Thomason, Lahoma sophomore.
Trumpet—Travis Chick, Enid sophomore, and Tara Woodmansee, Woodward freshman.
Trombone—A.J. Bohlman, Hooker freshman; Yvonne Colle-Burden, Medicine Lodge, Kan., senior; Chris Jamison, Carmen sophomore; Cory Kerr, Conway Springs, Kan., freshman; Kyle Newland, Blackwell freshman; and Rebecka Stanton, Ponca City junior.
Vibes—Amy Hook, Alva junior.
Drums—Adam Treeman, Enid graduate student.
In addition to directing, Ridgway will play bass.
