ANGST IN THE NUCLEAR AGE IS THEME OF UNIVERSITY’S FALL SHOW
Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Fine Arts Department will present the offbeat comic drama “Foolin’ Around with Infinity” tonight (Friday) and Saturday at 7:30 and Sunday at 2 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium. Admission is $2 for students, $4 for university employees and $5 for the general public. “Foolin’ Around with Infinity” is not appropriate for all ages.
The production is about angst in the Nuclear Age, which takes place in and around a nuclear missile silo a mile beneath Utah.
Kimberly Weast, assistant professor of theatre, said the show will hit many different elements. It will be thought-provoking, humorous and disturbing, so much so that Weast is hoping people will come prepared to be challenged and leave the theatre determined to take action.
A review in the Minneapolis Star Tribune said of this production:
“"Pours out ... spellbinding stories that accumulate into a bold picture of how we come to terms with, or ignore, impending Armageddon. There are so many ripe images in this rich play. It's an extravagant collision of funny, unthinkable things adding up to one of the most absorbing plays yet written about the subject."
The cast of the production welcomes audience members to stay after the show to join in a discussion at the front of the stage.
