FESTIVAL OF HOLIDAY MUSIC, TREE LIGHTING TO BE DECEMBER 2

            The annual Holiday Music Concert will be presented at 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, in Herod Hall Auditorium at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

The concert will feature performing ensembles of the music department, including the Concert Choir, University Chorale, University Singers, Jazz Band, Trombone Choir and Symphonic Band. Following the concert, Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, will throw the switch to officially light the university Christmas tree.

The public is invited to attend the free performance and the tree lighting.

The program includes “Christmas Cantata” by Daniel Pinkham; “O Magnum Mysterium” by Thomas Luis da Vittoria; “Christmas Day,” a Choral Fantasy on Old Carols, by Gustav Holst; “And the Mountains Echoed: Gloria” by Robert Longfield; “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson; “An American Elegy” by Frank Ticheli; and the festive medley of carols titled “Christmas Finale” arranged by Joyce Eilers and Paul Jennings.

The chorale groups will be directed by Dr. Stephen Kingsbury, director of choral and vocal studies. Dr. Kathryn Lindberg, director of bands, will lead the instrumental ensembles.
