NORTHWESTERN FAMILY DAY SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 29

Families of all Northwestern Oklahoma State University students are invited to the Alva campus Saturday, Sept. 29, for annual Family Day festivities, including the chance to win tuition waivers for the spring semester.

A reception for students, their family members and friends, faculty and staff will begin at 4 p.m. in the Ranger Room of the Student Center. Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, will speak briefly and cheerleaders and mascot Rowdy Ranger will be on hand. Door prizes will be awarded.

Families can register for Family Day between 2 and 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Northwestern Bookstore in the Student Center to receive free tickets to the football game, goody bags and the chance to win door prizes. An award will be given to the family having traveled the most miles to attend.

If families are not able to be there during those hours, students may register for them between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28.

Families will be able to visit classrooms and tour other university facilities as all campus buildings will be open beginning at 9 a.m. The Northwestern Natural History Museum on the second floor of Jesse Dunn will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A tailgate cookout will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the second tier of the south parking area of Ranger Field. The $3 meal will consist of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, cookies and a drink. The Ranger football team then takes the field against Sterling College at 7 p.m.

Families are invited to visit participating Alva merchants and register to win tuition waivers for the spring semester. No purchase is necessary and families can register at each of the stores. At the game, names will be drawn for first through third prizes of $500, $300 and $200 tuition waivers provided by the Northwestern Foundation. The winners will be announced at halftime, and registered families must be present to win.
