COMMUNITY BANK CONTRIBUTES TO SUCCESS OF RANGER PREVIEW

One of the goals of the organizers of Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s annual Ranger Preview day is to convince prospective students visiting campus to complete an application for admission, an important step in the recruiting process.

Community Bank of Alva made that step easier for prospective students and their families by agreeing to pay the $15 application for admission fee for every student that completed the form on that day.

“Northwestern truly appreciates the support of Community Bank in helping with Ranger Preview day by paying for students’ application fees,” said Brad Franz, dean of student affairs and enrollment management. “Ranger Preview has grown immensely and the financial assistance from Community Bank has made a big difference. That is why Community Bank’s involvement is crucial to the success of this event. Having community support like this truly speaks volumes to potential students.”

Ranger Preview was held Nov. 3, 2007, with 276 seniors from more than 80 high schools visiting campus to learn more about Northwestern, a 20 percent increase in attendance from the 2006 event.

Community Bank also provided five $100 scholarships for the event and sponsored a t-shirt giveaway.

“Community Bank’s contribution to cover the application fees of prospective students is further evidence of our bank’s continuing support of Northwestern,” said Terry Ross, bank president. “Our board of directors and the staff of Community Bank realize the impact that Northwestern has on the Alva community as the city’s largest employer and educator of our youth.

“We feel it is our responsibility to the community to help insure that Northwestern continues to grow. If our contribution helps increase the student population in Alva, then we feel we have fulfilled part of our goal in assisting with the economic development efforts of our community.”
