MEET PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYERS DURING NORTHWESTERN CAREER WEEK

With graduation rapidly approaching, Northwestern Oklahoma State University has scheduled a series of workshops for its senior students leading up to a Career Fair on Thursday, April 3.

The event is being coordinated by Yolanda Creswell of the Career Services Office. She said Career Week will begin with a Resume Writing workshop from 2 to 3 p.m. on Monday, March 31. The workshop will be presented by Karen Sneary, instructor in business.

On Tuesday, April 1, Alex Mantz, Alva Chamber of Commerce director, and a representative from LaDeeDa clothing store will discuss Dressing for Success from noon to 1 p.m.

To participate in the workshops, students need to register in advance with Creswell in Shockley Hall 114. Deadline for registration is Friday, March 28. She said interested students should talk with their instructors as some faculty have said they will give extra credit for attending Career Week events.

The Career Fair will begin at 10 a.m., April 3, in the Student Center Ballroom and end at 3 p.m. Creswell said companies and organizations will be seeking people to fill job openings and internships. Nearly 30 companies have registered already, and she is expecting more as the date nears.

Those companies signed up include Oklahoma Department of Corrections, Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Roberts Ranch of Oklahoma LLC, Oklahoma City Police Department, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Camp Coyote, Star Tek, Murphy Brown LLC, Triangle Cooperative Service Company, Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores, University of Oklahoma College of Nursing, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, U.S. Border Patrol, Wichita Police Department,
