BAHAMA BREAKAWAY/BATTLE OF THE BANDS SET FOR THURSDAY AFTERNOON

            Spring break for Northwestern Oklahoma State University students comes to Alva Thursday with the annual Bahama Breakaway set for 1:30 p.m. on the downtown square. The Breakaway will be followed by the Battle of the Bands.

            Sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA), the event will include a volleyball tournament and other fun activities, including laser tag, obstacle course and rock-climbing wall. T-shirts will be sold for $5 to commemorate the day and the Alva Chamber of Commerce will be providing a free cookout for students, employees and chamber members.

            From 4:30 to 8 p.m., the Battle of the Bands will rage and Lakin Ragains, SGA president, said the bands should be “awesome.” The groups will feature local musicians and audience participation.

            She said the public is invited to the “Battle.”
