NORTHWESTERN-ENID TO PLAY HOST TO ACCOUNTING EDUCATORS
The Oklahoma Accounting Educators’ Conference will meet Saturday at Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Enid campus.
More than 60 teachers of accounting will be on campus to hear a full day of presentations on a variety of topics, network with fellow educators and see the presentation of the 2008 Outstanding Accounting Educator Awards.
After registration and breakfast, attendees will be welcomed by Dr. Massood Saffarian, associate professor of business, and Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president.
Topics and presenters include “Industrial Fraud, a Function of Ethical Consideration,” Dr. Mark Patzkowski of Northwestern; “Assessing Student Learning in Accounting: Notes from the Field,” Dr. Maryanne Mowen of Oklahoma State University; “A Vision for Accounting Firms of the Future,” Kyle Brownlee of Wymer Brownlee Tax and Financial Management; “Using Technology To Improve the Cost-Effectiveness of Learning,” Matthew Cmar of Gleim Publications; and “Using Blackboard as a Tool To Teach Effectively,” Dr. Kathy Harris and Dr. Jerry Gustafson of Northwestern.
Dr. Carlos Johnson of the Oklahoma Accountancy Board will present facts about Certified Public Accountant examination pass rates, the Uniform Accountancy Act, activities of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy and the Oklahoma Accountancy Board legislative calendar.
The luncheon speaker will be Dr. Kendal Eastman of Oklahoma State University who will discuss “Navigating the Work Environment.”
