The professors first met in September 2007 for four day-and-a-half sessions, then finished the course in March.
The academy is facilitated by speakers on leadership, spirituality and ethics in leadership, communication across cultures, understanding teacher conflict and teams that work.
Dr. James Therrell, assistant professor of education, was one of the presenters at the academy. His subject was “Culture and Diversity in Higher Education.”
ELA was founded in 1998 by Ponca City businessman Charlie Hollar to create a leadership network among educators that links all levels and types of education offered in Oklahoma.
ELA provides leadership development comparable to that offered to many upper-level executives in successful organizations. It is a non-profit organization supported by the University of Central Oklahoma, the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technical Information.
