NORTHWESTERN TO OFFER TWO TRI-STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Northwestern Oklahoma State University will provide two one-year scholarships beginning next spring to participants in the Tri-State Music Festival held annually in Enid. One scholarship will go to a honor band student and one to a honor choir student. The scholarship amount is $1,000 each.
“Northwestern is proud to be the academic sponsor of the Tri-State Music Festival and we are excited about this opportunity to provide further educational opportunities to Tri-State participants,” said Dr. Mike Knedler, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. “Tri-State is a great event for the city of Enid and we support it fully.”
Requirements for the award include admission to Northwestern; full-time college enrollment; college residence in Alva (funding assistance available); enrollment and participation in the university band or the university choir, respectively, on the Alva campus; completion of an official Northwestern scholarship application; and a minimum 2.5 cumulative high school grade point average.
To apply for either scholarship, any interested senior should indicate on his or her application for the Tri-State Honor Band or Tri-State Honor Choir an interest in applying for the award. Tri-State Music Festival officials will compile a list of all interested students and forward those names to the director of bands and choir director, respectively, at Northwestern.
The Northwestern directors will select recipients based on interviews with applicants and other interested parties such as high school band and choir directors and private teachers. Recipients must have an official scholarship application on file with the Northwestern Financial Aid Office.
The awards will be presented at the Tri-State Grand Concert each spring.
