FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 8, 2006
NORTHWESTERN
OFFERS SPECIAL SPRING SEMESTER INCENTIVE PACKAGE
TO TRANSFERRING STUDENTS
A one-time only offer is being made to students at other colleges and universities who are thinking about transferring to Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Those students who transfer for the spring 2007 semester will be eligible for up to $1,000 in a special incentive package, said Brad Franz, dean of student affairs and enrollment management.
Full-time undergraduate students who transfer to Northwestern for the start of classes in January and live in Alva will receive $500 to use as partial payment of tuition costs. Those students who live in university housing will be eligible for an additional $500 to apply toward room and board. A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is required.
The tuition award can be used in conjunction with participation scholarships awarded in areas such as music, agriculture, mass communications, athletics, etc.
The transfer awards are made possible through a unique sales tax initiative approved by voters in Alva to provide financial assistance to Northwestern students. The sales tax guidelines require that students receiving the incentives must live in Alva while attending Northwestern.
Any students interested in transferring to Northwestern can obtain additional information by contacting the Office of Recruitment at (580) 327-8546 or e-mailing recruit@nwosu.edu. General information also is available by clicking on “Prospective Students” on the homepage of the university at www.nwosu.edu.
The deadline for submitting a scholarship application for the transfer student incentive is Jan. 8, 2007. A printable version of the application can be found online at: http://www.nwosu.edu/financ/scholarship_application.pdf.
