Because there are still four Concert Series performances to come (including Toxic Audio), season tickets offer a good value. Adult season tickets cost $30 (now a $40 value) and student season tickets are $15 (now a $20 value). Upcoming performers include Go for Baroque chamber group on Feb. 6, singer Karla Bonoff on Feb. 23 and the Artie Shaw Orchestra on April 4.
Again this year, four different sponsorship packages are being offered that include season tickets, reserved seating and program advertisements. Anyone interested in buying a sponsorship package should call Dr. Mike Knedler, series coordinator, at (580) 327-8590.
The five-member a cappella vocal group Toxic Audio was formed in 1998 at the Orlando International Fringe Festival. The group teamed up to create a unique interactive show, combining harmonies, vocal sound effects and their own brand of improvisational comedy.
The show caught the attention of Disney executives who immediately hired Toxic Audio to perform at the Disney/MGM Studios. There, they spent more than a year performing six shows a day for audiences of more than 3,000.
These electrifying entertainers, known as Toxins, demonstrate an impressive versatility that sometimes makes it difficult to define the group’s musical style. Their repertoire is an eclectic mix of almost every musical genre raging from pop to jazz, hip-hop to country and R&B to comedy parodies.
The Toxins have opened for such national acts as Tony Bennett, Kenny G and Wayne Brady from ABC TV’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” Toxic Audio also has lent its unique performance style to the corporate world, creating and presenting custom shows for most of the Fortune 500 companies worldwide.
The group’s album Chemistry won the 2003 Contemporary A Cappella Society of America (CASA) award for Album of the Year and the 2005 award for Artist of the Year. In CASA fan voting (Community Awards), Toxic Audio won as best pop/rock group and for best album, Word of Mouth.
Toxic Audio won the Lillie Stoates Award for Best Musical and the 2004 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience for its off-Broadway show that ran for seven months.
Other accolades include being named Best Pop Group in America by Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star and the 2000 Harmony Sweepstakes National Champion.
The Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series is made possible with the assistance of the Oklahoma Arts Council, the National Endowment for Fine Arts and the Share Trust of Alva.
