FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 24, 2006
ORGANIZATIONS, OFFICES URGED TO COMPETE IN CAMPUS CONTESTS
All clubs, organizations and offices on the Northwestern campus are urged to enter the spirit sheet sign contest being conducted in conjunction with homecoming.
Entries in all contests must reflect the Northwestern Homecoming theme of “Get Your Kicks in 2006.” Each sheet must be a twin size, 66” x 96”. Judges will choose winners based on originality and theme creativity.
Entries in the spirit sheet contest must be turned in to Daresa Poe in the Office of Student Services, FA 126, no later than noon on Friday, Oct. 27. Prior registration is not necessary.
The sheets will be displayed throughout the Student Center during the week of homecoming, Oct. 30-Nov. 3, then taken to Ranger Field for the football game on Saturday.
Prizes are $25 for first place and $15 for second place. Groups can be reimbursed for up to $25 for materials with receipts.
Offices on campus also are participating in a door/display decoration contest. The contest is divided into two categories: one for decorations on the actual face of a door or window and one for three-dimensional behind windows or within the office itself. All must feature the theme of “Get Your Kicks in 2006.”
Entries close Wednesday. The decorations must be completed by 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27, and will be judged during the week of Oct. 30-Nov. 3.
The winning entries on the Alva campus will receive a free pizza from Chartwells, and the winning entries on the Enid campus will receive a free pizza from a local restaurant.
Clubs and organizations also may have fundraising booths on Alva’s downtown square the morning of homecoming. There is no charge for reserving a space, but booths do need to be registered with Poe.
