NORTHWESTERN ART SOCIETY BRINGING WINNERS’ SHOW TO RUNNYMEDE

Up to 80 winning pieces of art work from the Fourth Annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) Art Show will be featured in a free show at the Runnymede Hotel Monday and Tuesday.

The art work created by university employees and students will be displayed on Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a reception for artists and the public from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“The Runnymede group of the Nescatunga Arts and Humanities Council is pleased to be working with the university art club to present to the community the second annual NWOSU Art at The Runnymede,” said Dr. Ken Brown, retired Northwestern professor and manager of the Runnymede. “This show gives a further opportunity for the university student and employee artists to have their work shown and for the community at large to see the quality of that work. It's this type of use that my wife, Dale, had in her thoughts as she saw her vision of The Runnymede.”

Everyone attending the Runnymede show is asked to vote for their favorite piece of artwork because at the end of the show on Tuesday, a People’s Choice Award will be presented to one of the artists.

Nearly 200 pieces of art, up 73 entries from last year’s show, were on display in the J.W. Martin Library on Northwestern’s Alva campus since April 19. These pieces were judged and ribbons and prize money were distributed.

“The Art Society is extremely honored to be asked to bring the winner’s show to the Runnymede for a second year for the entire community to enjoy,” said Angelia Case, NWOSU Art Society sponsor. “We are excited to show the creativity and talent of the campus community.”
