NOT TOO LATE FOR ANNUAL 5K RANGER RUN DURING HOMECOMING
It’s not too late for serious runners and fun runners/walkers alike to lace up their sneakers and participate in the 21st annual Ranger Run set for 8 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, as part of Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s homecoming celebration.
Sponsored by the Northwestern Alumni Association and the J.W. Holder Wellness Center, the Ranger Run features both a 5-K race and a one-mile fun run for all age groups. Shawna Copenhaver, run coordinator, said runners will start and end in front of the Rialto Theatre on the north side of the Alva square.
“We will be awarding 5-K medals in seven age categories each for males and females,” Copenhaver said. “The age groups are 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and older. The first overall male and female will receive special trophies. The top three in each division also will receive gift certificates to the Wellness Center.”
The Fun Run will have two divisions: 12 and under and 13 and older.
Every entrant in both races will receive a homecoming T-shirt.
Runners and fun walkers may sign up by Saturday, Oct. 28, for $15 and $10, respectively. Entries still will be taken after Saturday, but the entry fees jump to $20 and $15. Runners may register up until 15 minutes before the start of the race.
Online entry forms may be downloaded from Northwestern’s web site at www.nwosu.edu/homecmg/ranger_run/ranger_run.html or contact Copenhaver at (580) 327-8105 or sacopenhaver@nwosu.edu for more information.
