OKLAHOMA! MUSICAL SET FOR LATE APRIL
There now is less than a month before the curtain opens on Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s musical production of Oklahoma! The cast and crew, who include both students and employees of the university, have been working hard since the fall semester to get ready for this show.

The three-hour production will be performed in Herod Hall Auditorium April 26 and 27 at 7 p.m and April 28 at 1 p.m. Tickets are now available in the Northwestern-Alva Business Office. Prices include $5 for Northwestern students with a current ID, $8 for Northwestern employees and $10 for the general public.
Enid senior Adam Treeman is excited for the opportunity to portray Will in the musical.
“This is my final year as an undergraduate at Northwestern, and I wanted to do something that I could remember and be proud of as I move into my post-college years,” Treeman said.
Amy Lu Riley, Laverne junior, and Elizabeth Smith, Alva graduate student, are also in the production. Riley’s character is Laurie, and Smith’s is Aunt Eller. In the show, Laurie is Aunt Eller’s niece. Both Riley and Smith are anxious to showcase their talents in the musical.
“Oklahoma! is one of my favorite musicals and being in it gives me the chance to do what I love, which is singing and acting,” Smith said.
Riley is a natural for the role, having gained a lot of practice time as a child.
“When I was little, on road trips, my grandma and I would sing the songs from the movie in the car,” Riley said. “I thought it would be a great experience to get to portray a character that I have watched and looked up to ever since I was a little girl.”
The cast and crew hope to see several at the production to witness the hours of hard work that has gone in to the show.
“This is a big event,” said Melanie Wilderman, instructor in mass communications and member of the production’s choir. “It will be a show with a larger cast than what is normally performed at Northwestern. It would be great to have a packed house to show Northwestern can support such a performance.”
