FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 13, 2006
STUDENTS HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO WIN MEET & GREET PASS TO CONCERT
Northwestern Oklahoma State University students will have a chance to win backstage passes to a Meet & Greet with members of the country/southern rock band Cross Canadian Ragweed prior to their concert Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Percefull Fieldhouse.
Two students attending classes at Northwestern’s Alva campus will win the backstage passes for themselves and a guest with one student winning a pass for themselves and a guest at both the Enid and Woodward campuses. The winners also will receive one music CD from the band and coupons for a drink and food item at the R-Unit sponsored concession stand during the concert.
Tickets to the concert itself are not included as part of the Meet & Greet prize.
Registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 18-22 in the following locations:
Students registering must present their 2006-07 Northwestern ID cards.
David Pecha, vice president for administration and coordinator of the concert, said that the winning students will be notified via their Northwestern e-mail accounts on Monday, Sept. 25.
Pecha also said anyone still needing a ticket to the concert can purchase one for $20 through the business offices in Alva and Enid and the administrative offices in Woodward.
“It’s not often that we can say we’re able to see a well-known band of any genre in concert for $20 right here in northwest Oklahoma,” Pecha said. “We hope the Northwestern community and members in surrounding towns will come out to support this special event.
“Our students and staff have logged a number of hours to bring Cross Canadian Ragweed to Northwestern and Alva, so we hope to see a large crowd at the concert.”
Pecha also said the band is described as having a country/southern rock sound, so there should be plenty of enjoyable music for anyone of any age, regardless of their personal musical preferences.
“Whether the country sound is your favorite or not, we learned last year with the Brian McComas concert that the event in itself was enjoyable and was just as good, if not better, as anything we’ve seen in a metropolitan area,” Pecha said. “In Percefull Fieldhouse, there’s really no way to have a bad seat.”
In Alva and Enid, fans can purchase tickets by MasterCard, Visa or Discover by calling (580) 327-8534 or (580) 213-3104. Northwestern will not accept checks for the concert tickets.
If tickets are still available the day of the concert, they will be sold in the Alva business office until 4:30 p.m. A Will Call location will then open at the ticket window in Percefull Fieldhouse for cash only ticket sales.
Anyone purchasing tickets earlier with a credit card can pick up their tickets at Will Call beginning at 4:30 p.m. the day of the concert.
The Cross Canadian Ragweed concert kicks off this year’s Red Riot Week of events sponsored by R-Unit. Other activities planned for the week include a bonfire/pep rally and dance. For the traditional Family Day events on Saturday, Sept. 30, a reception for family members and Northwestern employees will take place that morning, with a tailgate cookout prior to the Ranger football game against Langston University at Ranger Field beginning at 1 p.m.
