NORTHWESTERN
GRADUATE SCHOOL TO VISIT AREA CITIES
TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT MASTER OF EDUCATION DEGREE OPTIONS
Representatives of the Graduate School at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be visiting Alva, Enid, Guymon and Woodward to provide information about master of education degree options.
Anyone interested in learning about obtaining a master’s degree is invited to attend one of the sessions. The schedule is as follows:
· Monday, March 26, 7 p.m., Room 109, Struckle Education Center at Northwestern-Alva;
· Wednesday, March 28, 7 p.m., Science Annex Lecture Room at Guymon Junior High School;
· Tuesday, April 10, 4:30 p.m., Conference Room, Northwestern-Enid; and
· Thursday, April 12, 7 p.m., Dean’s Office, Northwestern-Woodward.
Those attending will receive a packet of information, including a graduate catalog, degree plans of study, etc.
“The meetings will be of a general nature,” Murrow said, “primarily to let public school teachers know what their options are for pursuing advanced degrees locally.
“I will share information about all of our M.Ed. programs, but we have had considerable interest in our two newer programs—Curriculum and Instruction (with a block of specialty courses to assist teachers in preparing for National Board Certification) and Educational Leadership (designed to prepare teachers for certification as elementary/secondary school principals).”
Northwestern has two national board certified teachers on staff to coordinate components of the Curriculum and Instruction Program. The first of those classes should be offered this summer.
In addition to the two programs mentioned above, Northwestern offers degree options in Elementary Education, Guidance and Counseling PK-12, Reading Specialist and Secondary Education.
Anyone with a bachelor’s degree has the opportunity to complete a master’s degree at Northwestern that does not require a teaching certificate. Two programs are available—Adult Education Management and Administration and a non-certificate option that requires a major in a specified field of study, e.g. history, speech, etc.
Courses will be available in Alva, Enid, Woodward, Guymon and other remote sites via Interactive Television (ITV).
For more information, interested persons can contact Murrow at (580) 327-8410 or rcmurrow@nwosu.edu or visit www.nwosu.edu/graduate on the Internet.
