NORTHWESTERN REVISES COURSE ROTATION FOR GRADUATE EDUCATION PROGRAMS,
COURSES TO BE BROADCAST TO OPSU

            Northwestern Oklahoma State University has revised its course rotation schedule for the master’s degree programs in Educational Leadership and Guidance and Counseling, PK-12. All the courses will be available to Panhandle residents through broadcasts to Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

            The revision was made to reduce the number of classes that students would need to take each semester,” Dr. Rodney Murrow, associate dean of graduate studies, said.

            “There was concern that requiring three courses per semester was not realistic for graduate students who also are teachers, because of schedules already full with public school activities,” he said.

            Murrow also said the course schedules for these programs will recycle on a regular basis. If a student misses a course for some unforeseen reason, it can be picked up during the next rotation cycle.

            Rotations for both programs begin this summer. The Education Leadership program courses will begin recycling in Spring 2009. Guidance and Counseling courses will recycle beginning in Fall 2009.

            Courses scheduled during the summer for the education leadership program are Psychology of Teaching and Principles of Public School Administration.

            Summer courses in Guidance and Counseling, PK-12, are Psychology of Teaching and Introduction to Guidance and Counseling.
