JORDAN GASKILL CROWNED 2007 MISS NORTHWESTERN


Jordan Gaskill, Waynoka freshman, was crowned the 2007 Miss Northwestern in a pageant held Saturday. Gaskill will now compete for the title of Miss Oklahoma in Tulsa in June.


Winners in the pageant included Jordi Curtis as second runner-up; Jordan Gaskill, Miss Northwestern; Allison Cunningham, first runner-up, and Angela Gregg, Crowd Pleaser.

Jordan Gaskill of Waynoka was crowned Saturday night as the 2007 Miss Northwestern Oklahoma State University. A freshman majoring in pre-med/biology, she will represent the university at the Miss Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant June 4-10 in Tulsa.

Her platform is “Engaging Education and Communities: Moving Individuals To Serve” that promotes activities involving children, educators and community members. For her talent presentation, she sang “Summertime.”

            Allison Cunningham, a sophomore from Alva, was first runner-up, and Jordi Curtis, a junior from Laverne, was second runner-up. Angela Gregg, an Alva sophomore, was voted by audience members as the “Crowd Pleaser.”

            Contestants in the pageant were judged in talent, interview, fitness in a swimsuit and onstage question categories.

            In addition to gifts from various local businesses, Miss Northwestern will receive a $1,500 tuition scholarship and a $500 cash scholarship. T

he first runner-up receives a $1,000 tuition scholarship and $200 cash, and the second runner-up receives $500 and $100, respectively.

            Other contestants included Amanda Decker, Waynoka sophomore; Kasey Fowler, Mesa, Ariz., junior, and Amy Hook, Alva sophomore.
