NORTHWESTERN NURSING INSTRUCTOR ASSISTS WITH NATIONAL TEST
Carol Collins, instructor in nursing and nursing division coordinator at Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid, was selected by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) to prepare test questions for the NCLEX-RN and NCLES-PN licensing exams.
Collins was one of 16 nurses from across the nation selected for the prestigious assignment. She was nominated by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing on the basis of background and nursing experience.
She said that she was allowed to write questions about any subject and she chose to cover subjects she is most familiar with, including adult medical-surgical nursing and pharmacology.
In addition to participating in workshops, seminars and continuing education programs, Collins continues to actively practice as a registered nurse at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
“While practicing as an RN, I work with new nursing graduates and therefore I know what is current in nursing and what the new graduates must know to begin practicing as an RN,” Collins said.
The NCSBN is a not-for-profit organization whose membership comprises the boards of nursing in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and four United States territories—American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the Virgin Islands.
Its purpose is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing can come together on matters of common interest and concern affecting public health, safety and welfare to include the development of licensing examinations in nursing.
