UNIVERSITY CHORAL UNITS TO PRESENT FINAL CONCERT OF YEAR
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Chorale and University Singers will present a free concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, in Herod Hall Auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
In a continuation of the celebration of Oklahoma’s centennial and Northwestern’s 110th birthday, the concert will showcase the music of Oklahoma composer Dr. Stephen Weber. He is assistant professor and music coordinator at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
Eddie Vandewalker, director of choral and vocal studies at Northwestern, said the concert will feature the premiere performances of two of Weber’s pieces.
Vandewalker also said, “The audience will have the privilege of hearing Samuel Barber’s 10-minute opera “A Hand of Bridge.”
The piece is one of the shortest operas regularly performed. It consists of two couples playing a hand of bridge with each character having a short arietta.
