BURTS MAKE DONATION TO NORTHWESTERN CENTENNIAL GROUNDS PROJECT

They said Northwestern Oklahoma State University always has been good to the Burt family, so they decided it was time to give back.

On behalf of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, accepts a check for $1,500 from Jim and Linda Burt. The funds eventually will be used for a Centennial grounds project on campus.

Jim and Linda Burt of Alva donated $1,500 to the Northwestern Foundation Thursday, funds that most likely will be earmarked for a Centennial Grounds project on campus.

Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, accepted the check and expressed her thanks to the Burts for showing their Ranger Pride through this donation.

Jim has been a grounds employee at Northwestern for 11 years, and Linda is a former university employee where she worked in custodial services for nine years. It was only natural that this donation eventually be used for a grounds project.

“It just makes me feel great to do this,” Jim said. “My motto has always been that the students are No. 1. Without the students, I wouldn’t have a job.”

He also mentioned that his father Jim is a 1959 Northwestern graduate, sister Barbara graduated in 1975 and other family members have attended the university, so Red and Black roots run deep in his family.
