FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 4, 2006
PRESIDENT’S LEADERSHIP CLASS TO SPONSOR NWOSU FALL BLOOD DRIVE
Everyone is invited to join the President’s Leadership Class as they sponsor Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Alva campus fall blood drive, Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 11 and 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day in the Student Center.
This Halloween-themed blood drive will include games and prizes in the Wyatt Room for everyone who signs in. For all donors, there will be free food in the Ranger Room provided by Chartwells and Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI). Donors also have their choice of a free NWOSU Ranger Red t-shirt or an OBI donor t-shirt. Plus, every donor gets free health checks, including readings on body temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, cholesterol and iron levels.
Frontier City is offering Two For One Fright Fest Admission to all blood donors, as well. Fright Fest is Oklahoma’s favorite Halloween haunt for hair-raising thrills as guests take to the Trick or Treat Trail, hurry through the Haunted House or stroll around the Pumpkin Patch with their little ghouls.
Northwestern blood drives are among the most successful in Oklahoma because of student and faculty participation. Many instructors offer extra credit to students who donate and allow OBI representatives to speak in some of their classes.
“Northwestern really takes pride in its reputation for having record-breaking blood drives," said Audra Qualls, special events coordinator at Northwestern. “This is a great opportunity for the entire campus and community to ‘Ride with Pride’.”
OBI is a non-profit regional blood center providing blood to more than 115 hospitals in Oklahoma and North Texas. OBI encourages all blood donors to visit www.obi.org and join its Members For Life appreciation program to begin earning points for valuable online merchandise.
