FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                    April 10, 2007

PRE-ENTRY FORMS DUE APRIL 12 FOR UPCOMING ART SHOW

Pre-entry forms are due April 12 for any Northwestern Oklahoma State University student or employee wanting to enter the Fourth Annual Northwestern Art Society (NAS) Art Show, which is scheduled to take place April 19-29 in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus.

Forms can be found in the library, near the Student Government Association office in the Student Center, in the Instructional Media Center, as well as on both the Enid and Woodward campuses and should be returned to the Media Center either through campus mail or by dropping them by the office in the basement of Vinson Hall. They also are available on the NAS web site at www.nwosu.edu/art to be filled out electronically and emailed to Angelia Case, NAS sponsor, at arcase@nwosu.edu.

The entry form lists all divisions and categories available for entries. Each artist may enter two pieces in each category, but NAS asks that no piece be cross-entered in any category.

Members of the art society will then be in the library on Monday and Tuesday, April 16 and 17, from 2 to 7 p.m. to accept the various pieces of art being entered in the show.

All artwork should be picked up in the library at the close of the show on April 30 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. unless the piece won an award. All artwork winning first through third places, and any special award, will be taken to the Runnymede Hotel in downtown Alva for a “Winners Only Art Show” on April 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a reception for artists and the public from 7 to 9 p.m. On May 1, the exhibit will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. After 6 p.m. artists may pick up their artwork from the Runnymede. An alternate time for pickup is May 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. All artwork must be picked up by that time.

Anyone not able to deliver their artwork on the two days provided or to pick up artwork on the days specified, should contact Case at (580) 327-8577 or arcase@nwosu.edu to discuss alternate plans.

Students have a chance to win ribbons and monetary prizes in all divisions and categories. Employees will receive ribbons on their winning entries. Everyone will have a chance at a ribbon and a cash prize in the People’s Choice category, as well as the top prize in the special Oklahoma category. A People’s Choice Award also will be up for grabs at the “Winners Only Art Show” at the Runnymede.

With the help of a $250 contribution from the art show’s co-sponsor, the Student Government Association, NAS has $655 available to give away at this year’s show.

The NAS Art Show is an official Centennial event on Northwestern’s campus.
