NORTHWESTERN YOUNG FARMERS ATTEND STATE CONFERENCE
Northwestern Oklahoma State University was well-represented at the Collegiate Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) winter conference in Oklahoma City.

Eight Northwestern chapter members, along with sponsor Steve Sneary and his wife Ashlee, attended the three-day conference that centered on young farmers and ranchers playing a more visible role in the agriculture industry in order to secure a viable future for themselves.
The Northwestern students are Ryan Keck, Marlow freshman; Duke Nunley, Alva freshman; Kelly Whetstone, Springer sophomore; Mary Jackson, Ringwood freshman; Kyle Newman, Ringwood senior; Brandon McCamey, Enid freshman; Tyler Classen, Fairview sophomore; and Darin Frech, Fairview freshman.
Matt Rush, vice chairman of the American Farm Bureau Federation national committee, was the keynote motivational speaker. Other speakers included Jerry Shaw, big game specialist; Carla Wilhite, Oklahoma agribility specialist; and Lori Peterson, vice president of public policy for Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
The conference also included a roundtable discussion of the 2007 Farm Bill, agriculture tours, dinners and a vespers service featuring Christian rock singer Aaron Hansel. Hansel is an Alva native and attended Northwestern from 1995-98.
